Why LYNNAE & JEFF chose the Gruene River Haven

Whenever we traveled we have always preferred to stay at the "mom & pop" places vs. the resorts and chain hotels. Each place had its own unique quality and we would enjoy meeting the owners and hearing their stories. Whether it was just the two of us or finding a place large enough to accommodate our large blended family we always enjoyed these places the most. When we would find something we really liked we would begin to dream about one day finding something similar and starting our own "mom & pop" place. Our dream came true when in 2017 when we came across the Gruene River Guest House our first vacation rental property only a mile and half away. We were so successful and enjoyed running the Gruene River Guest House so much we decided that we could take on more. As fate would have it in 2019 Jeff took a wrong turn trying to avoid road construction and came across a "For Sale By Owner" sign. He checked it out and a month later we had our second property the Gruene River Haven. We feel so lucky to find such an amazing property with a great legacy developed by Maria Halbrook the prior owner and proprietor. We and Maria have become very close friends and we hope to follow her with many years of happy and satisfied renters.

What makes this house unique

The Gruene River Haven is sometimes refered to as a cozy quirky cool spot. The original house was a small A frame bungalow with only a few rooms built in the 1960's. Maria bought it in 1989 and proceeded to turn it into a Bed & Breakfast. She added on to it twice first adding the Lone Star, Gruene, Pecan and Cypress rooms and then the Guadalupe and Comal Rooms in the 1990's. The result is a cozy quirky cool house with amazing views, a fantastic location near Gruene, wonderful access to the Guadalupe River and a perfect spot for river oriented gatherings. What really makes the Gruene River Haven special however is our guests and the memories they make here!
